Overview

A spreadsheet workbook the City of Hamilton posts on its development charges page beside the by-laws and rate pamphlets. It is a calculator, not a rate schedule: its sheets assemble a pre-building permit estimate from property and development details, screen exemption eligibility by development, usage, ownership and location, and work out interest between a planning application's rate lock-in and permit issuance from a base rate averaging the prime rates posted by RBC, Scotia, CIBC, BMO and TD. A references sheet names the by-laws behind the rates.
