Overview

Volume 6 of the City of Hamilton's Hamilton's Heritage series, published in December 2005 by the Planning and Economic Development Department. It inventories the 145 licensed cemeteries and burial grounds in the city, 113 still actively managed and 32 lost or abandoned, arranged by former municipality from Ancaster and Beverly to Stoney Creek and West Flamborough. Opening chapters set out the Cemeteries Act context, the history of Hamilton's cemeteries, and markers, monuments, inscriptions and funerary art; an appendix gives cemetery types, a chronology and a glossary.
