Overview

City of Mississauga By-law 0216-2023, the Fire Route By-law, passed in December 2023 under the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, replacing Fire Route By-law 1036-1981. It lets the Fire Chief designate private roads as fire routes, then sets out the property owner's application, fees, City design additions such as dead-end turnarounds and hydrant bollards, the link to building permit issuance, maintenance and snow clearing, and parking enforcement and towing. Schedule A shows the FR-1 sign and its mounting height and spacing.
