Overview

City of Hamilton By-law No. 08-108, passed May 14, 2008, on apportioning the cost of division fences: fences that mark the boundary between neighbouring lots inside the urban boundary set by the Official Plans. It defines actual cost and basic cost (a 122 cm galvanized chain-link fence), sets how neighbours share the cost of building, replacing, maintaining or repairing such a fence when they cannot agree, and replaces the Line Fences Act there. The Residential Fences page links it on sharing a fence's cost.
