City of Hamilton By-law No. 14-212, which its general provisions say may be referred to as the Urban Woodland Conservation By-law. It applies to trees in woodlands of 0.2 hectares or more on private property inside the urban boundary, and defines a woodland by tree counts per hectare at set diameters. Its permit process covers the grounds for issuing and refusing a permit, conditions such as replacement planting and security, a one-year permit term, and appeals to the Planning Committee.
