Overview

City of Hamilton By-law No. 15-125, to regulate trees on or affecting public property, which its general provisions say may be referred to as the Hamilton Public Tree Protection By-law. It defines a public tree as one with 50 per cent or more of its trunk diameter at ground level on public property, and lists acts it counts as injury, from pruning and fastening objects to work or soil changes within the drip line or tree protection zone. It repeals By-law 06-151 and sets fines per tree.
