Overview

The City of Hamilton's Street Naming Procedures for public and private roads, Appendix "D" to Report PED25077, revised March 2025. It describes the pre-approved street name list kept by former municipality, ward and neighbourhood; how a name is added through a request circulated to the ward councillor; how names are finalized through a draft plan of subdivision or a by-law; and the re-naming route, with a petition of at least 80% of owners, a fee and a Planning Committee public meeting. A table matches street types to roadway forms.
