Overview

The City of Markham's four-page Tree Preservation Declaration, marked "This is NOT a Tree Permit. Information Only." and linked from the Tree Permit Application page as the Declaration Form. Tree Preservation staff ask for it with building, demolition and pool applications, Minor Variance applications and landscaping projects. It quotes the general prohibitions of Tree Preservation By-law 2023-164, explains regulated trees and Tree Preservation Zone (TPZ) barriers, charts minimum and ideal TPZ distances by trunk diameter, and ends with four questions about the work and the owner's declaration.
