Overview

Markham's By-law 2014-71, the Sewer Use By-law, for the installation and connection of private sewers to the City's sewage works and the discharge of sewage, storm water and land drainage, passed May 27, 2014; Markham's later By-law 2023-150 repeals it. It sets sanitary and storm sewer discharge rules, compliance programs, pollution prevention plans, sampling, spills, dental amalgam separators, oil and grease and sediment interceptors, private sewage systems, sewer connection applications, fees, offences and penalties. Schedule A tables the sanitary and storm discharge limits.
