The stairs and stairwells zoning information sheet the City of Mississauga publishes on its basement entrances and second units page — one of two the city issues from the same drawing, the other sitting on its additions and new houses page. Under Zoning By-law 225-2007 it illustrates a two-storey detached dwelling and prints articles 4.1.5.8 and 4.1.5.8.1 on stairs, stairwells and retaining walls that facilitate an entrance below grade, the 1.2 m minimum setbacks to the interior side and rear lot lines, and the 0.61 m exit stair encroachment with a maximum of three risers.

What it covers

  • Encroachments & Projections
  • Stairs and stairwells
  • Regulations (from 4.1.5 Encroachments & Projections)
  • Notes
Check this against the municipality before you rely on it. DocHub collects what a municipality published; it cannot tell you what is in force today. A newer version may exist, may be titled differently, or may not be posted publicly at all.
