Overview

Richmond Hill's Bird-Safe Design Standards, dated April 2024, which apply to glazing on lands subject to Site Plan approval and draw on CSA A460, Bird-friendly design standard. They state the treated areas, including glazing within the first 16 metres from grade and at building corners, the treatment types and visual marker sizes and spacing, and the Bird-Safe Elevations sheet and checklist that accompany a submission. Appendices cover the specifications checklist, lighting, design considerations and ineffective treatments, and landscape. The City's urban design briefs and architectural control guidelines refer to them.
