Overview

Mississauga's Guideline for Second Units, linked by the City as Second Unit Code Guidelines. It outlines Ontario Building Code items for a permit converting a single family dwelling into two dwelling units, in two tables, Building Plan Review and Mechanical Plan Review. Each row gives an item, its OBC Part 9 reference and the matching Part 11 compliance alternative: fire resistance ratings, sound control, exits, room and ceiling sizes, egress windows, spatial separation, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, ventilation, heating and fire dampers. Footnotes explain Part 11 for existing buildings.
