The City of Richmond Hill's terms of reference for a Natural Heritage Evaluation, prepared by a qualified ecological professional to check a development or site alteration against key natural heritage and hydrologic features and their minimum vegetation protection zones. It sets the protection-zone table itself — 30 metres from a wetland, fish habitat, or significant valleyland, at least 10 metres from hazardous lands — under the Richmond Hill Official Plan, the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan, and the Greenbelt Plan, and closes only once the city has signed off in writing on the staked limits of the features found.
