The City of Richmond Hill's terms of reference for an archaeological assessment, prepared by a licensed archaeologist under the Ontario Heritage Act to identify and evaluate archaeological resources on lands with archaeological potential. It follows the province's Stages 1 through 4 in the 2011 Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists, and sets out what happens if resources or human remains turn up during construction — work stops, and the Province, York Regional Police, the regional coroner, or the Bereavement Authority of Ontario are contacted. It also points to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation's own archaeology standards.

What it covers

  • Who Should Prepare an Archaeological Assessment?
  • Why Do We Need an Archaeological Assessment?
  • What Are the Submission Instructions?
  • Are There Other Resources?
Check this against the municipality before you rely on it. DocHub collects what a municipality published; it cannot tell you what is in force today. A newer version may exist, may be titled differently, or may not be posted publicly at all.
