The City of Brampton's design guidelines for a detached additional residential unit, or garden suite, issued as Appendix 1 to Brampton By Design, the development design guidelines. It defines a garden suite as an ARU in a detached building in the rear or interior side yard, and sets out the zoning provisions on size, height, setbacks, parking, privacy and access, and illustrates 50 and 100 square metre prototypes, roof typologies, amenity space, windows and exterior finishes. The garden suite review process and its architectural control review form close the appendix.
