Overview

A guideline of the Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management, OFMEM-TG-01-2019, that the City of Brampton links from its additional residential unit registration pages. Updating TG-04-1998, it covers the testing and maintenance schedule for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, the testing frequency for landlords and occupants, routine and annual test procedures, and replacement, including sealed-battery units and the tab that dissipates remaining battery energy. Separate sections set out the landlord's and the tenant's roles in rental units, with a maintenance checklist and a tenant information sheet attached.
