The Town of Markham's Deck By-law, passed as By-law 142-95 and, by its own terms, repealing the earlier By-law 166-90 that had carried the same short name. It defines a deck by height above grade and sets rear and side yard setbacks that vary with that height, with separate provisions exempting steps from the height and setback rules. The by-law also amends By-law 19-94, the Buttonville Core Area By-law, among a long list of older area-specific zoning by-laws it names by number. An explanatory note describes its intent as design flexibility without imposing on neighbours' privacy.
