The City of Markham's Site Alteration By-law, passed as By-law 2011-232 under the Municipal Act, 2001, and office-consolidated to March 2021 with amendments by By-laws 2012-43 and 2021-13. It sets the permit process for placing or dumping fill, removing topsoil, and altering land grade, with exemptions for lots under one acre and small landscaping works, and lists conditions the director considers before issuing a permit, including drainage, erosion and effects on the natural heritage network. Schedule A holds the permit application form and Schedule B maps the Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt Plan boundaries.
