Brampton's terms of reference for a market impact study, also called a planned function study — the examination of retail supply, demand and impact behind a proposal to change, delete, expand or add to a retail designation. It fixes the study area at a 3 km radius for neighbourhood and convenience commercial and 6 km for district retail, then works through site and area context, an inventory of existing and planned retail with a 500 to 800 metre walkability analysis, demand from forecast population and customer draw, and e-commerce trends.
