The City of Brampton's Encroachment By-law, numbered 47-2025, regulating encroachments onto city-owned lands. Its recitals state three purposes: governing the approval procedure for encroachments, mitigating the city's exposure to risk and liability, and protecting the city's rights over city lands. It carries exemptions for mail and newspaper boxes, sets fifteen conditions for a boulevard garden planted without an agreement, caps wood chips around a boulevard tree at ten centimetres, and covers agreements, appeals, removal, restoration, orders and disposition of removed items.
