Overview

The City of Mississauga's urban design terms of reference for shadow studies, approved by Council in September 2014 (Resolution 0167-2014) and updated July 2024. It explains shadow studies for buildings taller than 10.7 m and the written analysis and mitigation plan that accompanies the drawings. It sets the study dates and times, then shadow criteria for residential private amenity spaces, communal amenity areas, the public realm, turf and flower gardens in public parks, and building faces for solar energy, the required information and Mississauga sun angle data.
