Overview

Hamilton's Development Application Guidelines for a Fish Habitat Assessment, last updated February 13, 2026, a study of fish, fish habitat and aquatic Species at Risk near a watercourse, often part of an Environmental Impact Statement. It quotes the adjacent-lands widths for cold-water and warmwater watercourses from the Urban and Rural Hamilton Official Plans, and sets out scoping, background review, field surveys including in-water works timing, permitting and fish community surveys, then analysis and documentation. A six-step procedure and a list of sources for fish background information follow.
