Overview

Hamilton's Development Application Guidelines for a Meander Belt Assessment, last updated February 13, 2026, for development beside a watercourse, to establish the width of its meander belt and meander belt allowance. It defines the meander belt as the land within which a watercourse moves or is likely to move, and the allowance as the setback that represents the erosion hazard for unconfined watercourses. It lists the report contents, from field data to a scaled plan and GIS shape files, with the four conservation authorities as reviewers.
