Overview

The City of Hamilton's Storm Drainage Policy, prepared by Philips Engineering Ltd. and dated May 2004, sets out the City's goals and policies for storm drainage in new land development, redevelopment and capital works after the 2001 amalgamation. It covers the legislative framework, runoff quantity (flooding, watercourse erosion, conveyance and combined sewers), runoff quality, a cash-in-lieu policy, the planning and design process from watershed plans to stormwater management plans, and the approval protocol. The 2013 Innovative Stormwater Source Control Policy builds on it.
