The City of Hamilton's policy for assigning and changing municipal address numbers and municipal address unit numbers, followed by Planning and Economic Development staff. It sets King and James as the directional starting point, then covers odd and even sides, a six-metre numbering interval, cul-de-sacs, alphanumeric suffixes and corner lots. Separate sections give numbering by development form — single detached, semi-detached, street and quadraplex townhomes, private road blocks, additional dwelling units, parkland and utilities — and rural properties, Farm 911 emergency access point signs and address change requests.

What it covers

  • 1.0 Responsibility
  • 2.0 General Policies
  • 2.1 Municipal Address Numbers
  • 2.2 Municipal Address Unit Numbers
  • 3.0 Policies for New Development
  • 4.0 Policies for the Rural Area
  • 5.0 Change of Address / Additional Address
Check this against the municipality before you rely on it. DocHub collects what a municipality published; it cannot tell you what is in force today. A newer version may exist, may be titled differently, or may not be posted publicly at all.
