City of Hamilton By-law No. 02-283, to regulate open air burning, cited in its own final section as the open air burning by-law and replacing six separate procedures inherited from the former municipalities. It sets a permit procedure through the fire department, site suitability and inspection, permit conditions, and the nuisance and smog-alert restrictions. The document also carries the open air burning permit form itself — burn site, applicant, fees, pile size — with approval guidelines and outdoor fireplace guidelines printed on the reverse. It came into force January 1, 2003.
