Overview

Issue No. 4 of the City of Markham Building Standards Department's Builder Tips, dated January 1, 2025, updated to the 2024 Ontario Building Code and filed with the City's housing tips. It quotes Article 9.17.3.4., Design of Adjustable Steel Columns, which ties columns under an imposed load of 36 kN to CAN/CGSB-7.2 and sends others to Part 4 design. The Objective describes single-tube and telescopic columns supporting basement beams and lists the label details: manufacturer, standard number, maximum extension, maximum allowable load and steel grade.
