Overview

Markham Building Standards Department Builder Tip No. 58, dated January 1, 2025 and updated to the 2024 OBC, on how steep a roof surface is for each roofing type; the City lists it with its housing tips under the 2024 Ontario Building Code. It quotes Article 9.26.3.1., Slope, with Table 9.26.3.1., lower slopes for asphalt and gravel roofs with roof drains and for low-slope profiled metal cladding, and slope away from exterior walls and guards. Its objective explains water ingress, ponding and positive slope after frame shrinkage.
