Overview

The City of Markham's four-page Builder Tip No. 98, dated January 1, 2025, on supporting excavations for house foundations next to property lines, one of the City's housing tips under the 2024 Ontario Building Code. It quotes Article 9.12.1.4., Precautions During Excavation, and section 234 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act regulation O. Reg. 213/91 on support systems and soil types. Its objective describes the City's two shoring conditions, excavation within 1200 mm of a property line or Diagram 1 distances, and 600 mm of undisturbed soil.
