Overview

Builder Tip Issue No. 45 from the City of Markham Building Standards Department, dated January 1, 2025 and updated to the 2024 Ontario Building Code and listed among the City's housing tips, on witness testing of life safety systems before occupancy. It names Code headings for fire alarm and detection, automatic sprinklers, high buildings, lighting and emergency power, and standpipes. The Objective describes the building inspector's testing, with the Fire Department notified, the trades present for each system, and fire alarm verification and sprinkler certifications filed three days ahead.
