Overview

Markham's short Builder Tip No. 31, dated January 1, 2025 and updated to the 2024 OBC, one of the City's non-housing tips under the 2024 Ontario Building Code. It quotes Article 3.4.5.2., Signs for Stairs and Ramps at Exit Level, on marking exit stairs that continue past the lowest exit level in buildings over 2 storeys and roof-level signs in buildings over 6 storeys. Its objective explains why people head for the roof or basement in an emergency, where the signs are affixed, and includes an illustration of sign placement.
