Overview

Builder Tip No. 74 of the City of Markham, dated January 1, 2025, filed with the City's housing tips under the 2024 Ontario Building Code. It quotes Article 9.10.9.11. on beam and joist pockets in masonry or concrete fire separations, and Article 2.2.1. of the 2012 Supplementary Standard SB-2 on minimum equivalent thickness. Its objective works through back-to-back beams bearing on an 8 inch block or poured party wall, where 90 mm bearing leaves 25 mm of wall, and a steel bearing plate that keeps the 1 hour rating.
