Overview

The City of Markham's information sheet on the footing inspection, one of a series for homeowners and builders, requested after the forms are erected and before concrete is placed, and followed by the foundation inspection. It explains that footings are inspected so the bearing surface will sustain the building's loads and match the permit documents for architectural layout. A provincially qualified building inspector reviews undisturbed soil, minimum depth, form layout and setbacks, footings, precautions, waterproofing and termite control, and the reverse side carries a matching deficiency checklist.

What it covers

  • Undisturbed Soil
  • Minimum Depth
  • Form Layout and Setbacks
  • Footings
  • Precautions
  • Waterproofing
  • Termite Control
  • Project Review
Check this against the municipality before you rely on it.
