Overview

Issue No. 15 of the City of Markham's Builder Tips, dated January 1, 2025 and listed with its housing tips for the 2024 Ontario Building Code, on where basement beams bear on the foundation. The Objective explains why beam pockets weaken a foundation wall and offers a pilaster or thickened wall instead, with a detail of a steel beam bearing and its air barrier.
