Overview

The City of Markham's Builder Tip No. 59, dated January 1, 2025, filed with the City's housing tips under the 2024 Ontario Building Code. It quotes Articles 7.6.1.5., 7.6.1.11. and 7.2.11.3. on check valves for plastic water service pipe suited to cold water only, protection against thermal expansion, and 14 gauge or 12 gauge tracer wire. Its objective explains why a check valve sits downstream of the building control valve, the diaphragm expansion tank in a closed system, and how tracer wire locates the pipe later.

What it covers

  • 7.6.1.5. Check Valves
  • 7.6.1.11. Thermal Expansion
  • 7.2.11.3. Tracer Wire
